Welcome to OHMS

The Ohio Music Scene (OHMS) is a statewide, artist-run network dedicated to preserving, promoting, and connecting Ohio’s independent sound culture. Founded to document and strengthen the creative communities that define our cities, towns, and college scenes, OHMS brings together musicians, archivists, and listeners across generations under one open, accessible platform.

At the heart of OHMS is All Ohio Radio, a 24/7 independent broadcast linking Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Akron, Dayton, Toledo, and Athens. The station streams locally made music, interviews, and archival recordings, continuing the freeform and community-driven spirit of Ohio college and underground radio. Every broadcast celebrates the past, present, and future of Ohio music — from punk basements and DIY collectives to jazz ensembles, folk traditions, and experimental sound art.

Supporting the broadcast arm are the OHMS Archive Foundation and OHMS Music Group, a connected ecosystem of projects:

  • The Archive and Wiki preserve Ohio’s music history through recordings, flyers, photos, and oral histories.

  • The Civic Club and Fanzine document the ongoing story — community meetings, interviews, and essays and much more. It's a chance for the local voice to be heard.

  • The OHMS Music Group operates an independent record label, recording studio, internet radio station, and record store, ensuring that the state’s creative output remains locally owned and publicly accessible.

Together, these efforts make OHMS a living cultural record and an evolving community infrastructure — part historical society, part grassroots media network, part creative commons.
Our mission is simple: to keep Ohio music in Ohio hands, to give every scene a signal, and to build an archive that honors the people who made it possible.
