Information that is intended to remain private

The following is generally intended to remain private unless disclosure is required for operational or legal reasons:

  • internal moderation records

  • private account settings not meant for public display

  • push notification token

  • internal technical and admin data

For example, your account settings screen may show your own email address while keeping it hidden from other users.

5. Profile Privacy and Community Controls

OHMS may offer privacy and control features such as:

  • public/private profile settings

  • blocked user lists

  • @mention controls

  • reporting tools

These tools are intended to give users more control, but no system can guarantee perfect privacy or prevent every misuse. Content shared publicly or with other users may still be seen, copied, or referenced by others.

6. How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

We may share information in the following limited situations:

A. With service providers and infrastructure partners

We may use third-party providers to help operate the Services, such as providers for:

  • app/backend hosting

  • database hosting

  • image/media hosting

  • email delivery

  • calendar/event infrastructure

  • radio/streaming infrastructure

  • notification delivery

These providers may process information only as needed to support the Services.

B. With the public or other users

If you choose to submit public-facing content, that content may be visible to other users or the public. This includes things like:

  • reviews

  • public community posts

  • public replies

  • public profile information

  • approved event listings

C. For safety, abuse prevention, or legal reasons

We may disclose information if reasonably necessary to:

  • enforce our Terms or community rules

  • investigate abuse, fraud, or security issues

  • comply with law, regulation, legal process, or lawful requests

  • protect the rights, safety, and property of users, OHMS, or others

D. Business/project transitions

If OHMS evolves organizationally, merges, transfers assets, or restructures in the future, information may be transferred as part of that transition, subject to applicable law.

7. Email Communications

We may use your email address to:

  • verify your account

  • send password reset codes

  • send important service-related messages

  • respond to support or submission inquiries

We do not state here that you will receive marketing emails by default unless and until OHMS actively implements that.

8. Notifications

If you enable notifications, OHMS may send you app notifications related to your use of the Services, including community activity such as replies, mentions, or shares.

You can usually manage notifications through your device settings and, where available, in-app settings.

9. Device Permissions

Depending on the features you use, OHMS may request access to certain device capabilities.

Current or likely permissions include

  • Photos / media library access for selecting and uploading profile pictures, post images, review photos, and event flyers

  • Notifications for community and app alerts

  • Audio/background audio for radio playback

  • Internet/network access to stream audio and load app/website content

  • File/media access as needed for uploads on certain platforms

Future permissions

As OHMS evolves, future versions of the app may request additional permissions for expanded features. These could include features related to:

  • richer uploads

  • camera-based media capture

  • creator/community tools

  • archive contribution tools

  • improved messaging or engagement features

  • audio/media creation workflows

If new permissions are added in the future, they are intended to support new app features. Some features may not function if required permissions are denied.

10. Cookies, Storage, and Local Session Data

The OHMS website and app may use local storage, cookies, or device storage to:

  • keep you signed in

  • remember session information

  • store app state or preferences

  • support security and authentication flows

For example, the mobile app may store local session information on the device so your community login persists between app launches.

11. Data Retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • provide the Services

  • maintain accounts and content

  • operate community features

  • comply with legal obligations

  • resolve disputes

  • enforce agreements

  • maintain technical and moderation records

Some content may remain in backups, logs, or administrative systems for a period of time even after deletion or account closure.

If you delete your account, some associated content may be removed, but we may retain limited records where reasonably necessary for security, moderation, legal compliance, or system integrity.

12. Data Security

We take reasonable steps to protect information, but no platform can guarantee absolute security.

We use practical measures intended to reduce risk, such as authentication flows, password hashing, hosted infrastructure, and service-provider protections. Even so, you use the Services at your own risk, and you should protect your device, password, and account access.

13. Children’s Privacy

OHMS is not intended for children who are too young to legally use the Services in their jurisdiction without parental involvement. If we learn that we have collected personal information in a way that violates applicable law, we may remove or restrict that information.

14. Third-Party Services

OHMS may integrate with or link to third-party services. Those services may have their own privacy practices.

Examples may include:

  • Google Calendar-related tools

  • image hosting services

  • email delivery services

  • address lookup services

  • radio/streaming providers

  • external event links

  • social media or outside websites

We are not responsible for third-party privacy practices. Review their policies separately when using those services.

15. International Use

OHMS is centered on Ohio music culture, but the Services may be accessed from other locations. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be processed and stored in countries or regions where the relevant providers or infrastructure operate, subject to applicable law.

16. Your Choices

Depending on the feature, you may be able to:

  • choose whether to create an account

  • control some profile settings

  • set your profile to public or private

  • enable or disable certain community preferences such as mentions

  • block/unblock users

  • remove certain uploaded images before submission

  • disable notifications through device settings

  • stop using the Services at any time

Because OHMS is still evolving, user controls may expand over time.

17. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as OHMS evolves.

If we make changes, we may revise the effective date and post the updated policy on the website and/or in the app. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.

18. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how OHMS handles information, contact OHMS through the website or official OHMS contact channels.
